Online shopping can be sweet and filled with excitement but long delivery time is one major drag that comes with buying things online.
Most online shopping sites have tried to proffer a solution to this by introducing Lightning-fast delivery and even same-day delivery option. Such service sounds really interesting but definitely cost more money.
So the big question now is; are people willing to pay whatever it may cost to have their items delivered the same day they placed an order for it?
iUseCoupon.com has conducted a survey among some of it’s European users to know their answer to this question and also to know how much they’re willing to pay for same-day delivery service.
There were 5,388 survey participants from five European countries including Germany, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Spain and France. Differences in region, age and gender were considered.
Same-day Delivery in Europe
It appears most Europeans are still skeptical about same-day delivery as 55.3% (2,979) of the total respondents voted for not willing to pay more for such service. 44.7% are ready to pay more for same-day delivery.
In country level, more people in Germany are willing to pay extra for same-day delivery than every other participating countries with 52.7% of the total German participants (1,128) saying they’re willing to pay more for same-day delivery.
People in Netherlands are the least that wants to pay more for same-day delivery, only 38.1% of the 952 Dutch respondents are ready to pay extra for this service.
In France, 43.5% of the respondents wants to pay more for this service, 41.3% of the Spaniards said they’re willing to pay more for same-delivery option while in United Kingdom, 46.2% are positive about this service.
By age group, most people of the younger generation are willing to pay more for this service. 53.9% of the 1,933 respondents within the age of 18 to 29 years said they will gladly pay more for same-day delivery.
There were more participants within the age of 30 to 59 years; 2,618 and 43.1% (1,126) of them are ready to pay extra for this service. The elderly ones are really not sure about this, only 28.8% of the people aged 60 years and above are willing to pay more for same-day delivery.
More of the European women are eager to have their items delivered on the same day of purchase as 48.6% of the 3,137 total female participants are willing to pay more for this service. 39.3% of the total male respondents (2,251) are okay with paying more for same-day delivery.
How much can you pay for same-day delivery?
Since we have known the rate of people willing to pay more for same-day delivery, it also important to know what they can pay for this service…
69.1% (1,663) of the total number of participants that are willing to pay more for the same-day delivery said they will only pay from 1 to 10 euros. Only 2% (48) of them can pay 21 euros or more to have their goods delivered on the same day of purchase.
More people in United Kingdom are willing to pay over €21 for same-day delivery than every other participating countries; 16 people (2.8%) out of a total of 576 that are willing to pay more for the same-day delivery in UK.
It’s obvious most of the Europeans want to pay less for same-day delivery, €1 – €5 is the most preferable amount for this service followed by €6 – €10. It is left for the online stores to decide on how much to charge for same-day delivery.
During the beginning of August and ending of November 2019, 5,388 people from Europe were surveyed in a total of 5 European countries including United Kingdom, Spain, Netherlands, Germany and France, where the tradition of online shopping is very present.
